The images all depict aircraft at what was Royal Air Force Khormaksar at Aden, Yemen around 1966. It is believed they were made by a member of British personnel stationed at the airbase.
Having been a strategic staging post for trade with India and the Far East, Aden was one of the final British colonial outposts in the Middle East during the Cold War period. The British military made a final, and somewhat ignominious, withdrawal in 1967 following a period of intense and violent political unrest in pursuit of full Yemeni independence.
